Roundup: Are the tides finally changing for the Rox?
After a brutal start to the season, two call-ups are giving fans something they haven't seen in a while, hope.
Howdy folks,
Colorado sports are picking up as of late, with two future stars making their debut for the Rockies, while the Nuggets and Avs closing out their regular seasons and preparing for the upcoming playoffs.
In the midst of a 1-7 start, the Rockies looked to a young hopeful pitcher, calling up Chase Dollander who made his major league debut on Sunday. Dollander was drafted out of Tennessee in 2023 and quickly worked his way up the minor league ranks. He got the call on Friday and was able to help the Rockies avoid the series sweep in a 12-5 victory over the Athletics. Two hours after that series, MLB sources announced that Colorado’s eighth overall prospect Zac Veen had gotten the call and was expected to make his anticipated debut in the forthcoming series against Milwaukee. The Recaps
Rapids lose to Vancouver
The Rapids had a disappointing showing on Saturday night, failing to record a shot on goal in their 2-0 loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps. Both the offense and defense just couldn’t hold their own, looking disorganized all game. Aramis Loma-Guzmam has the full recap here.
Phillies sweep Rockies
The Rockies' offense stalled in a three game sweep courtesy of the Philadelphia Phillies earlier this week, getting outscored 14-3. No one outside of Hunter Goodman, who had two home runs, could get anything going at the plate, and the bullpen didn’t help one bit. It didn’t make it any easier that the games were played at the hostile Citizens Bank Park in their home opener. Baylan Wysuph has the full series recap here.
