Denver Outlaws get redemption against California Redwoods
Pat Kavanaugh dropped 5 goals and 3 assists to help the team win the Outlaw's third win of the PLL 2025 season

The Denver Outlaws (3-2) took on the California Redwoods (2-2) Friday, looking to avenge their loss against them to start the season. The Outlaws did so, winning 18-12 and jumping into first place in the Western Conference.
Denver’s Pat Kavanagh got the scoring started, but California quickly retaliated with two goals of their own. First-quarter scores from Ryan Terefenko and Logan Wisnauskas along with a two-point goal from Graham Bundy Jr. shifted momentum for the Outlaws. They were up two going into halftime and led just 11-10 heading into the fourth quarter. With a first-place position up for grabs, Denver pieced together their best quarter of the season, outscoring the Redwoods 7-2 with goals from seven different players. It was Terefenko’s goal, an open look shot straight down the middle, that solidified the victory, marking the Outlaw’s third consecutive win.
Outlaws attacker Pat Kavanagh faced his brother, Redwoods attacker Chris Kavanagh in this rematch, but this time Pat would get the win over Chris. He put on a masterclass performance, leading the dominant offensive effort with the best game of his career, notching five goals and three assists. He had support from O’Neil, Wisnauskas, Bernhardt, Anderson and Terefenko, who each scored twice. The Outlaws put 32 of their 42 shots on goal. A lot of those opportunities came from facilitating the pass, finishing with a season-high 11 assists. The aggressive offense found rhythm off faceoff specialist Luke Wierman, who had a 58.1% faceoff win percentage and also found the net in the fourth quarter.
It was far from a complete game for Denver, with the defense having some hiccups. They struggled with penalties and had a handful of turnovers while transitioning into offense, but were able to survive thanks to the goalie play of Logan McNaney. He collected 15 saves, stopping 60% of California’s shots on goal.
The Outlaws have next week off due to the Professional Lacrosse League All-Star Game. They will look to keep their momentum going against the Maryland Whipsnakes on Saturday, July 12, 7:30 p.m. MT.
